Ghazal
Chanchal Bagla
Why do all the open books look like birds?
Why do maa's undone eyebrows look like birds?
No peacock or parrot charms me. I love pigeons
The common-man of birds, the nook-like birds.
Every day, walls of my room move an inch closer
To stop it, I built pillars of books that look like birds.
When I run too fast in streets, all my words fall down
Crushed under tyres -still breathing- they look like birds.
You are the bird you like. Your noses too long,
Voices mimicked. Four hearts. We all look like birds.
